EL PASO, TX — This year, the flu got off to a fast start, with the number of cases increasing sharply in November and December. That's much earlier than usual. In fact, already this year the El Paso area is recording it's highest numbers of flu cases since 2009, the year of the dreaded H1-N1 virus.
Experts like Fernando Gonzalez, the lead epidemiologist with El Paso's Department of Public Health, are predicting the high numbers of flu cases to continue for the next few weeks.
Doctors recommend you practice the four "C"s to help stop the spread of the flu virus. The four C's are...
1. Clean your hands.
2. Cover your mouth.
3. Contain germs (by staying home when sick).
4. Call your doctor when you start feeling flu symptoms.
