They're lining up for treatment and for shots across El Paso, as flu season worsens.  This year, according to the El Paso Public Health Department, the predominant strain is H1N1.

Now, the flu has claimed the life of 3 more El Pasoans, including one young man.  Three of the victims were middle aged adults with underlying health conditions, but one of the most recent is a young man, in his 20's, with no known health problems.

Everyone has their opinion about the flu shot.  Some don't believe it works.  Some just don't get around to it.

Experts this year said H1N1, the same virus that caused a worldwide pandemic in 2009, is hitting less common demographics.

"It's affecting young and middle-aged groups," said Fernando Gonzalez of the El Paso Public Health Department.

Namely, 20 to 64 year olds. Underlying conditions can increase the chances of catching the flu.  The conditions can be serious, like cancer, diabetes or obesity.  They could also be something as simple as stress, poor diet or trouble sleeping.

If you get sick, there's Tamiflu, if you go to the doctor within 2 days of recognizing your symptoms.

Experts say, there's only one way to fool proof yourself against the flu.

"Most importantly, prevent," said Gonzalez. "Do your vaccine".
