El Paso, TX (KDBC) — It's going to cost taxpayers nearly $130,000 to represent an accused sex trafficker in court, according to documents filed in federal court last week.
Charles Marquez and Martha Jimenez Sanchez of Juarez are charged with placing phony ads in the El Diario de Juarez newspaper, promising work in the United States to women.
According to the indictment, once those women would answer the ad, Marquez and Jimenez reportedly took them to a motel and force them into prostitution.
Marquez just recently asked for a new attorney.
Attorneys must request permission for such high costs when it is not a capital case.
