Two new polls released Monday show Americans are split over the verdict in the George Zimmerman trial.

Both polls also show a racial divide over the jury's finding.

The Washington Post and Pew Research Center surveys both found 86% of African-Americans disapproved of the verdict while a majority showed a majority of whites agreed with the jury's decision.

It also found women, younger people and democrats were more likely to disapprove of the verdict.

Zimmerman was acquitted in the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin-- an unarmed african-american teen.

Zimmerman said he shot martin in self-defense.
