Anthony, TX (KDBC) — Anthony, New Mexico and Anthony, Texas residents joined together to celebrate independence day. Firefighters, low-riders, and animal lovers convened on the streets of Anthony. New Mexico and paraded their love for Fourth of July and the nation through Anthony, Texas.
We caught up with the mayor who says it's important to celebrate Fourth of July with their neighbors.
"We rely on each other a lot. This community is one, really. We share the same name. We only have the difference between New Mexico and Texas but other than that we got family and friends from both sides. So it becomes like a big, big party for both communities,” Mayor Luis Vela of Anthony, Texas said.
The parade ended at Municipal Park on the Texas side where residents enjoyed food off the grill and water slides.
