El Paso, TX (KDBC) — Dust monitoring test results are in from the ASARCO demolition. When the stacks fell it sent a huge plume of dust into the air. Sixteen on-site dust monitoring stations were operating to make sure levels didn't exceed environmental standards.
Those stations tested for carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, ozone, and sulfur dioxide. Results show no harmful amounts of dust entered the atmosphere, although slightly elevated levels were detected for about a half hour after the blast.
