EL PASO — The autopsy report for Juana Muñiz, 25, who was killed in an alleged drunk driving accident in October, 2012 revealed Muñiz died of multiple blunt force injuries.
The autopsy report indicated she had a fractured skull, traumatic brain injuries and several cuts and bruises on her body, as well as a torn spleen.
The autopsy did not reveal whether Muñiz, or Fernando Rodriguez, 26, was the driver of the red Hummer. Both were in the vehicle when it ran a red light at the intersection of Zaragoza and Gateway East during the early morning hours of October 14, 2012.
Both Muñiz and Rodriguez were ejected from the Hummer. Muñiz died from her injuries. Rodriguez suffered serious injuries, but survived.
Police investigators were not able to determine which of the two was driving, and the autopsy report from the El Paso County Medical Examiner's Office was not able to determine if Muñiz was the driver based on her injuries.
El Paso Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
