The numbers are staggering, thousands of unaccompanied children illegally crossing the U.S. border. This is one of the Border Patrol facilities in Texas, overwhelmed by the children crossing the border in droves.

Children, as young as four year-olds, are making the perilous journey and border control isn't equipped to properly care for all of them.

The majority are coming from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

Congressman Henry Cuellar of Texas visited with some of the immigrants and explained why so many are taking the risky trip, "Economics, there's just nothing to do over there. Second, the violence. You know one of the fathers said about four people in his neighborhood had been killed right before he said I give up because they said 'hey, we want your son, if your son doesn't join our gang we are going to kill him' so there's that threat the violence, no jobs and a lot of them already, I asked them how many had family members here in the US, a lot of them had family members already here. They know where they're going once they land here."

Many blame the Obama administration for fostering the misconception that a child who ends up in America illegally will get a free pass to stay.

The United Nations says child migration from Central America needs to be addressed as a foreign policy issue.
