CA: NRA releases gun app

Tuesday, January 15, 2013 - 5:20am

The National Rifle Association criticized violent video games in the wake of the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting.

Now the NRA is releasing its own mobile phone and tablet game -- that puts a virtual gun in the hands of the user.

The app's creators claim it's all about teaching safety. However, a public relations firm in California says otherwise - “The time is absolutely suspicious,” said Rachel Kay from RKPR, a public relations firm in Solana Beach. “If the game gives the NRA another point of touch for supporters it could help their image, but if it comes off as insensitive it could backfire,” Kay said.

With gun sales through the roof, President Obama has vowed to make meaningful change with or with out the help of Congress.
