Car rammed into far East El Paso home

An unusual noise stirred Joaquin Cunhs out of his bed at 3 AM on Friday.

"So I ran and looked out the window and I seen a car going in reverse and parked next door to me at my neighbor's," Joaquin Cunhs, a Far East El Paso resident told us.

He said his neighbor may have been drinking when his truck crashed into this car, then into Joaquin's home. Joaquin said he smelled alcohol on his neighbor's breath.

He tells us his neighbor is a Border Patrol agent, however the El Paso Police Department said a Border Patrol agent was not involved.

Joaquin said his neighbor was cooperative. Although his neighbor spoke with Joaquin before the cameras arrived, the neighbor did not speak with us.

"He talked to the 911 dispatcher with me but afterwards, he hasn't been out," Joaquin explains.

The damage is evident on Joaquin's house and the neighbor's truck.

"The estimator is going to come in a minute. They said around, probably about $25,000 to $30,000 then the vehicle itself is probably totaled," Joaquin said.

Neighbors are upset because they say police were supposed to impound the agent's vehicle.

Joaquin may be lacking sleep but he has enough energy to say this message.

"Don't drink and drive, that's what it was," he told us.
