EL PASO — Are you looking to promote a special event or activity, but in need of some financial help? El Paso is home to dozens of great events, and once again the City Sponsorship Program is looking to lend a helping hand when it comes to helping coordinate parades, races/walks, processions or marches.
The City Sponsorship Program is accepting applications for any of these events taking place between September 2013 and August 2014. Through this program, eligible applicants receive sponsorship of a portion or all City fees associated with the event, including police services and cleanup.
All applicants who have applied within the past five years have been mailed an information packet, but this year, the City of El Paso is specifically encouraging new organizations and events to apply for this program. If you know of an event that may qualify for the program, please share this information. The PDF is fillable and applicants are able to sign electronically and submit by email.
The information packet is available on the City website by visiting the Special Event Permits site: www.cityspecialevents.com.
The City of El Paso, along with the Downtown Management District, will also host an informational session on March 7, 2013, 9 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the El Paso Club in the Chase Building, 201 East Main, 18th Floor, where interested participants may attend for more information on this and other programs and services available for hosting events. If you are interested in attending this informational session, please register at www.cityspecialevents.com. The deadline to register for the event is March 5, 2013 at 5 p.m.
Some of the previously approved events include: Toy Run Parade (El Paso Motorcycle Coalition); YMCA Turkey Trot; AIDS Walk; El Paso Fourth of July Parade (Del Norte Lions Club); El Paso Sun City Pride Parade; Trot for Tots (Child Crisis Center); NorthEaster Parade (Transmountain Optimist Foundation); Veterans’ Day Parade (United American Veterans Organization of El Paso); FirstLight Federal Credit Union Sun Bowl Parade (Sun Bowl Association); El Paso Marathon (El Paso Marathon Foundation); Independence Day Parade (Rotary Club of West El Paso); Black History Month Parade (Inter Club Council of El Paso); Segundo Barrio 5K Race/Walk (Lydia Patterson Institute) and Ceasar Chavez Parade/Marcha Campesina (Sin Fronteras Organizing Project)
City officials say parade events help create a sense of community in local neighborhoods, and allow organizations and businesses to give back and bring awareness to their cause and brand. In addition, they say these events help promote families, fitness, tolerance, patriotism and recognize those who have served our country. The City of El Paso helps further the promotion of these causes by providing financial assistance to host these events through the City Sponsorship Program.
All applications must be received by March 31, 2013. If you have questions regarding the program, please contact Martin Camarillo at (915) 541-4007 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
