College scholarships available for "match babies"

How parents met is a sweet and important story for their kids and is celebrating the way some digital-age babies came to be. According to, it has been in the business of match-making for 19 years and to celebrate, it is launching a scholarship program for these so-called "match babies".

With the program, called Matchmade, plans to award fifty-thousand-dollars in college tuition to a student whose parents were matched on the website. To enter, the child must submit a short video, by June 30, 2014 explaining how their parents met online. They have to be between 13 and 20 years old. will pick 10 finalists and then in August, will let the public vote for the ultimate scholarship winner. says it knows it has played a small role in these kids being born and now it wants to play a small role in helping to send them off to college.

This is clearly a PR move by but it could be a fun project for kids to find out how their parents met, and if it helps any child to afford college, all the better.
