El Paso, TX (KDBC) — Community and business leaders gathered at El Paso del Norte Bridge this afternoon to discuss ways they can improve wait times for trade and people crossing El Paso Bridges, on Tuesday.
Congressman Beto O'Rourke and Congressman Henry Cuella were both in attendance emphasizing the importance of trade flows.
Congressman Henry Cuellar, says since 1990 trade with Mexico has grown by 600 percent and continues to increase each year, he says we must work together with Mexico to reduce wait times at the border.
"If we can provide some assistance on the other side we want to make sure that helps our economy over here, the faster they move on the other side the faster they get through ours" said Congressman Cuellar.
Others in attendance were El Paso County Judge, Veronica Escobar, Mayor John Cook, Councilwoman Cortney Niland, and President of the El Paso Foreign Trade Association, Stephanie Caviness-Tantimonaco.
