El Paso Congressman Beto O'Rourke was talking immigration reform Wednesday.
O'Rourke along with other border congressman and minority leader Nancy Pelosi held a press conference.
O'Rourke said he wants to make sure the house immigration bill does not include an amendment similar to the one included in the senate bill that passed last month. That bill includes adding hundreds of miles of border wall and 20 thousand new border patrol agents.
"Doubling the size of the Border Patrol would arguably create more agents, but you have to ask yourself what are the quality of the agents we're going to get if we have to hire 20,000 new agents in the coming years," said O’Rourke.
O'Rourke said the focus needs to be on lessening wait times at the border. He said Mexican nationals will pump billions into the economy if the wait wasn't as long and said more shoppers would mean more jobs and growth in El Paso.
