El Paso, TX (KDBC) — The County of El Paso has not decided on when they will be opening up the Sportspark Complex in Far East El Paso. County Commissioner Carlos Leon tells us they are working on opening up all ten fields, initially set for just six.
Leon says leagues have already expressed interest in hosting their games at the complex. He adds - the county is concerned about some of the remodeling designs that came out during Phase 1. The park was supposed to open in August 2013. "So we're going almost on a year that those needs need to be completed. So I can tell you this, the county is less than satisfied with the product so far in so far as those repairs," Commissioner Carlos Leon, Precinct 1 explained.
The project has cost the county $7.5-million. Leon also says they be hiring a new contractor. As we've reported, the county has been working with Sunlight Enterprises. Sunlight and the architects, Parkhill Smith and Cooper, have been blaming each other for the delays.
