EL PASO, Texas (KDBC) — A program that set out to save county residents money on gasoline is getting pulled off the road.
The 'Vamonos Vanpool' program allowed residents to meet at certain points in the county... then carpool in a leased van into the city limits.
It had hopes of reducing gas emissions and saving residents gas money through the service, but Monday County Commissioners scrapped the program and its contract with VPSI, Inc. altogether after discussing funding issues.
The program received Texas Dept. of Transportation funds to start up in 2008.
The program ends Friday, May 17.
