El Paso Police have charged a man with Intoxication Manslaughter following a chain reaction crash that left a motorcyclist dead.

37-year-old Jaime Lopez is locked up under a $100,000 bond. Police originally told Local 4 News that he was 36 years old.

Lopez is accused of running over 50-year-old motorcyclist Oscar Ceballos early Saturday morning on I-10 near Raynolds and Paisano.

Investigators said Ceballos, of El Paso, was headed west on the freeway around 2:43 a.m. when he collided with an empty marked police car. The vehicle had its overhead lights on and was being used to close off lanes following an earlier crash on I-10, according to police.

Ceballos was thrown from his bike, a 1996 Yamaha V-Star, and landed in the far right lanes of I-10.

As a policeman ran to help him, investigators said Lopez, driving a Chevrolet Impala, hit the same parked police unit and then ran over Ceballos.

Ceballos died at the scene.
