Driver of Deadly Zaragoza Accident Remains in Critical Condition

In an update to Monday's deadly crash in far east El Paso, the driver of the red Hummer, 26-year-old Fernando Rodriguez remained in critical condition at University Medical Center.

The crash happened around 2 a.m. Monday morning at the intersection of Zaragoza and Gateway East. Police said Rodriguez ran a red light and crashed with a Honda Accord. Rodriguez and his passenger, 25-year-old Juana Muñiz were both ejected from the Hummer. Muñ iz passed away later that day.

Meanwhile, family and friends of the 25-year-old woman, Juana Muñiz were gathering to raise money for her funeral. They planned on getting together at the San Elizario Catholic Church from 4 p.m. until seven.

Friends and family say they will also be gathering at the site of the crash this evening around 6:30 p.m.
