Austin, TX (CNN) — The dire drought situation in Texas continues, as Governor Rick Perry has extended the "drought emergency" for more than 200 counties. The declaration authorizes the use of all necessary measures to help in response efforts, and it's an extension of the "drought emergency" Governor Perry issued in July of 2011.
With very little rainfall over the last year, Perry says drought conditions have reached historic levels and continue to pose an imminent threat to public health, property, and the economy.
