Drosselmeyer Wins Belmont Stakes with Ties to El Paso

Saturday, June 5: Drosselmeyer won today's Belmont Stakes, winning the third leg of the Triple Crown. The Kentucky Derby was won by Super Saver, while the Preakness was won by Lookin At Lucky. Both horses did not run in the Belmont. Drosselmeyer was ridden by New Mexico native Mike Smith, and is owned by WinStar Farms. The Co-Founder of WinStar is Bill Casner, who was born and raised in El Paso. It is Mike Smith's first Triple Crown win in his 13th try. Fly Down was second, First Dude was third.
