RUIDOSO, NM — Firefighters have made significant progress containing the Little Bear Wildfire north of Ruidoso.

Officials confirm the fire is now 35 percent contained. It continues to burn on 37,551 acres, but crews planned on focusing on another aerial attack on the fire.

Law enforcement and agencies warn there are still many hot spots and that the fire is still very active. With close to 1,200 personnel on the fire, agencies say they need to keep roads in the fire zone area as clear as possible.

Officials have now set up a phone line where they can call in and get the latest info officials are releasing.

The number is 575-258-6900.

Road Closures:
NM 532 (Ski Run Road) - Closed;
NM 48: Open from Ruidoso to NM 220 (Airport Road) and open from Capitan to Mile Marker 14; HWY 37: Road block is now at Mile Marker 5 (coming towards Capitan/Ruidoso from Carrizozo); NM 220 has been re-opened to Sierra Blanca Regional Airport.
