The bout is now just 2 weeks away. David Rodriguez (33-0 31 ko's) will take on 'Big' Ty Cobb (12-2, 8 ko's) will meet at the Haskins Center on Friday, February 11th at the Haskins Center.
David Rodriguez said, " don't think there is any heavyweight fighter out there that can match my speed and power, or endurance, and with the sparring we are getting, we are working a lot of rounds, so I am very confident." David's trainer, Herman Delgado, added, "I am elated with the progress, it's going good, and everything is running real smooth. I can't wait until the fight."
Zeferino Entertainment announced that young welterweight prospect Marvin Cordova Jr. (21-2-1, 11 KO’s) has just resigned a promotional contract and is now being added to the exciting February 11 card “The Return of El Nino” in El Paso, Texas featuring undefeated heavyweight David Rodriguez and former welterweight contender Hector “Machito” Camacho Jr. Cordova is slated to fight journeyman Jorge Alberto Reyes (21-29-3, 17 KO’s) whose most recent performances included a loss to Johnny Tapia and a decision loss to Frankie Archuleta.
“Reyes has been in there with everyone,” commented promoter Zef Ramirez, “so this will be a good opportunity for Marvin to shake off some ring rust while still getting some good experience from a much more seasoned and experienced foe.”
Cordova, who is an ESPN nomine for one half of the Friday Night Fights fight of the year (based on his war with California’s Josito Lopez) is keen on making a statement as well, and realizes that anything less than a dominant performance could set him back.
“Marvin learned a lot from the loss to Josito,” added Ramirez, “and he is chomping at the bits to get back into the ring and show the world what he brings to the table, to show the world that he’s a force to be reckoned with in the division.”
Tickets for the February 11th fight can be obtained via Ticketmater or through the Don Haskins Convention Center box office at (915) 747-5234.
