According to Public Health Director Michael Hill, since April of 2009, there were 805 cases of H1N1 flu with 17 fatalities in El Paso. The pattern of movement has suggested this flu is in other parts of the world and the low number of H1N1 cases locally seem to support this. That doesn't mean Michael Hill's job is done and his department is preparing for the return of this "bug". Hill says the possibility exists that the H1N1 flu could return to the Borderland in late February early March. Hill wants the public to avoid those long lines and low vaccine supplies by getting their H1N1 flu shots now. Hill says anyone in the business of vaccinating has more than enough shots, just not enough people are lining up to get them. More important than that, Hill is also urging children younger than ten years of age who previously got their first shot to follow up with the second booster shot. Regardless of your age, you can call 915-771-5759 to make an appointment or go to your local pharmacy.
