Thursday Marks JFK's 50th Inauguration Anniversary

WASHINGTON, D.C.— On January 20, 1961, one of America's most favored of presidents was inaugurated into office.

John F. Kennedy was inaugurated 50 years ago Thursday as the nation's 35th president. Kennedy's inaugural speech is also considered one of the most memorable. Kennedy famously said “...ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country...”

Events will be taking place around Washington, D.C., to celebrate Kennedy's legacy. There will also be an event at the Kennedy Center Thursday night with President Obama.
