Verizon to Offer iPhone in Early February

NEW YORK— This nation may not be big enough for both of them, but it's finally happened— Verizon will now start selling the long-awaited AT&T-only exclusive iPhone.

Verizon announced Tuesday it would begin selling the long anticipated Apple device in February. The move will pit Verizon's network again AT&T, and ends AT&T's exclusive hold on the iPhone in the U.S. market since Apple launched the iPhone with AT&T in 2007.

The iPhone will be similar to the one AT&T customers currently have. There are a few changes, and the iPhone 4 will come with a 5 megapixel camera, HD video recording, and of course, thousands of apps.

But while AT&T customers face dropped calls, and “spotty” coverage, Verizon hopes its extended network and other services will be able to attract more customers, and be able to handle those that do make the jump.

The Verizon iPhone will cost about the same as AT&T iPhone, but will probably offer unlimited data coverage plans compared to what AT&T offers.
