El Paso attorney temporarily loses law license

Tuesday, May 14, 2013 - 5:19pm

An El Paso lawyer who was found in contempt of court two separate times will now temporarily lose his law license.  Visiting Judge Martin Muncy today suspended Stuart Leeds for six months.

Leeds was found guilty of contempt of court for purposely lying to the court about documents he filed in the Shawntrell Dawkins murder trial. At the time Leeds was already on probation after being convicted of contempt of court for his behavior during the nepotism trial of Judge Regina Arditi. Leeds' suspension began today.

Aside from disbarment, suspension is the harshest punishment that Texas lawyers can suffer.
