If you needed proof that El Paso is growing by leaps and bounds, here it is. The city is home to the most populated zip code in the entire country. According to AARP, the 79936 zip code in far East El Paso is home to 116,860 residents. That beats out zip codes in cities like Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago. That zip code includes neighborhoods near Montwood Drive and North Zaragosa road. The news comes as a surprise to many who live there.

"It does surprise me. I'm local here and pass through here all the time," said Mike Lopez, of east El Paso.

"Everyone's always talking about how bad traffic on the east side is and how crowded and busy it is especially around rush hour so i think that might be one negative for people living out on the east side," said Marissa Monroy with the city's development department.

The Texas Department of Transportation is working to expand highways in east El Paso to try and ease some of the congestion in that area.
