EPPD: Traffic deaths decrease

The El Paso Police Department and the City of El Paso has seen a
a significant decrease in the number of traffic fatalities during the first quarter of 2013. During the first three months of 2013 there have been six traffic related deaths. According to police, this represents a five year low during the same time period; a breakdown is as follows:

•2013: 6
•2012: 12
•2011: 18
•2010: 11
•2009: 11

Lt. Rod Liston, Commander of the STI & DWI Task Force said, “It is our continued mission to keep El Paso roadways safe in 2013.” El Paso adopted a “DWI No Refusal Initiative,” in October of 2012 and the El Paso Police Department says their DWI Task Force and the Regional Commands Traffic Sections will continue to address DWI drivers on El Paso Roads.
