El Paso, TX (KDBC) — Voter turnout took a nose dive in Saturday's election. Not many El Pasoans turned out to vote. In fact, only 13.6 percent of El Paso County residents cast their ballots in this election, despite having eight mayoral candidates on the ballot.
Average turnout for the past five years has hovered right around 23 percent. There are almost 358,000 registered voters in the county, but only 49,000 people voted.
El Pasoans can vote again in the run-off election on June 15th.
