The poultry company at the center of a salmonella outbreak has submitted a plan to the USDA on how to fix the problem. Foster Farms, based in California, is implicated in the salmonella outbreak that has sickened more 278 people in 18 states.

In a letter to the company, the USDA demanded the company respond by Thursday with a plan. It said the company has had multiple sanitation regulation violations. In a statement Wednesday night, Foster Farms said it's dedicated to resolving any concerns by the USDA and is changing practices in the affected plants.
