Former President George H.W. Bush is improving after being hospitalized for bronchitis, and he should be home in time to celebrate Christmas with his family, the hospital said Thursday.
Bush, 88, was initially hospitalized on November 23 with bronchitis and remained there with what his spokesman described as a "lingering cough." His office originally expected a release in late November or early December.
His condition is said to be steadily improving and remains stable. Now doctors say his treatment will focus on physical therapy to increase his strength.
Though he's expected to celebrate Christmas at home with his family, no discharge date has been set.
He is the oldest living former president and a World War II veteran.
