It's that time of the year when you can get your hands on those delicious girl scouts cookies.

Local Girl Scouts kicked off sales in East El Paso on Saturday where they handed out more than 132,000 boxes of the cookies to scouts.

Proceeds help fund hundreds of programs and activities through Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest meant to build girls courage, confidence and character.

"They learn business ethics. It's really their first experience as an entrepreneur… learning how to talk to customers. Every goal sets a goal of how many cookies she wants to sell," said CEO Diane Flanagan.

Each box is $4. Cookie sales run through Sunday, March 2.

If you don't know a girl scout, you can visit www.gsdsw.org to find cookies or call (800) 895-7390.
