Girl Scouts send gift to local soldiers

The Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest sent a special shipment of their famous cookies to soldiers deployed overseas. The girl scouts are sending nearly 12,000 boxes of their thin mints and all the other cookie flavors to Southwest Asia.

The scouts, along with soldiers at Fort Bliss, worked together to load them into containers used by the army. The cookies were all bought by residents of the community who were asked by the scouts if they wanted to make a donation.

"It's like I was helping the people and they were helping people too," said McKenzie Denes, a local Girl Scout.

The Girl Scouts send cookies to the troops every year.
