Grand Canyon National Park, AZ — The Grand Canyon is back open for business.
The national park is one of several reopening thanks to deals negotiated between federal and state governments.
The agreements allow states to pay for park operations as the government shutdown continues.
Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has agreed to pay the national park service a total $651,000 to reopen the Grand Canyon for at least seven days.
The state will consider its next steps if the shutdown has not ended in that time.
Other destinations reopening include Mount Rushmore and the Statue of Liberty.
