Gov. Susana Martinez announce new nursing curriculum

Thursday, November 7, 2013 - 12:20pm

Governor Susana Martinez and members of the New Mexico Nursing Education Consortium (NMNEC) will announce the establishment of a new common nursing curriculum for all of New Mexico’s higher education institutions.

The event marks a major milestone in a more than two-year effort by Governor Martinez's Administration and the Nursing Consortium to adopt a common nursing curriculum for all of New Mexico's colleges and universities.

These changes will make it easier and far less costly for nursing students to transfer from one school to another.

And, for the first time, more nursing students at colleges throughout rural New Mexico will also be able to earn Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degrees without having to leave their communities.

The announcement will take place at the CNM Workforce Training Center, Thursday, at 1pm, in Albuquerque.
