An already historic building in Mesilla Park got some good news about its past.

It turns out the Frank O'Brien Papen Community Center was designed by well known architects Trost and Trost in 1907.

The Mesilla Valley Preservation Company presented the center with an old newspaper clipping confirming the well respected architectural firm designed the building.

The building originally served as a school.

Trost and Trost is believed to have designed more than 200 schools across three states in the early 1900's.

The city is trying to have historical plaques placed at the center, marking its rich past.
