The House of Representatives has passed the For Vets Act of 2013 which allows veterans service organizations (VSO's) to receive donations from the Federal Surplus Personal Property Donation Program free of charge
U.S. Congressman Beto O'Rourke was one of the bill's three original co-sponsors.
He released a statement Monday saying quote:
"This cost-effective legislation will help them provide better services to the brave men and women who have served our country by allowing them to tap into additional resources."
Under current law, VSO's have to prove that they are involved in education or health programs to obtain a property donation at no cost.
