WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Fourth of July tends to be a busy travel holiday.
Fewer people are planning to head out of town this Fourth of July, according to AAA.
The organization estimates nearly 41 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home in the July 3rd to July 7th period.
That's down nearly 300,000 from last year.
AAA representatives say the shorter holiday weekend this year could be to blame.
Independence Day falls on a Thursday this year, meaning a four-day weekend, down from last year's five days.
