LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Dona Ana County officials were notified Wednesday of the upcoming departure of their current jetport manager.
The City of Sunland Park approved a contract to hire Vernon Wilson, the current head of the Dona Ana County International Jetport, as their new city manger Tuesday night.
Commissioner Billy Garrett said he received word of his resignation Wednesday morning and added Wilson did a great job managing the jetport.
He added the county manager will looking at filling the position but there will not be any setbacks on the work currently being done at the jetport in regards to funding or daily operations.
Garrett said here's no timeframe as to when the position might be filled.
Wilson will start his new job with the City of Sunland Park at the beginning of next year.
