El Paso, TX (KDBC) — A change in policy may soon allow Fort Bliss soldiers to visit Juarez, something they haven't been allowed to do since 2008.
Fort Bliss officials stopped allowing soldiers to cross the border five years ago because of the escalating violence in juarez. In a column for the Fort Bliss Monitor, Major General Dana Pittard says the process is underway to change the policy -hopefully by years end.
Pittard cites a sharp decline in violence from more than 3,000 murders in 2010 to just 870 homicides in 2012.
