LAS CRUCES, N.M. — The City of Las Cruces has reached a major population milestone having surpassed the 100,000 population mark as of April, according to city statistics.
The city's Metropolitan Planning Organization estimated population by the current 98 percent occupancy rate, with an average of more than two people living in the more than 44,000 housing units in the city.
"We expect a lot more interest from a lot of various businesses to look at Las Cruces as a place to relocate or set up shop," said Las Cruces Mayor Ken Miyagishima
Miyagishima said the city has also experience smart growth with a steady two to three percent increase every year.
