ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KDBC) — A half-naked man hiding behind a cactus, a bleeding, naked woman on the ground, and a crashed Ford Explorer were all elements of a crime scene in Albuquerque, NM, police said.
According to a police report dated May 27, the scene was a result of Luis Briones' alleged attempt to simultaneously drive and have sex with his passenger with an open bottle of vodka in the car. Twenty-five-year-old Briones was reportedly speeding during the act, ran a red light and crashed into another car.
When police responded to the wreck, they said they found Briones hiding behind a cactus wearing his shorts inside out. The woman said to have attempted the sexual act was laying near the vehicle after being ejected. She was bleeding heavily with cuts to her face and head.
According to a witness, Briones tried to drive away after the crash and leave the woman behind, but the witness was able to take the keys from the ignition before he drove off. Briones then fleed the scene, only to be found hiding behind a cactus when police arrived. The report stated he was belligerent and obcene upon their arrival, and continuously spit at police during the investigation.
Briones was arrested, facing charges of DWI reckless driving and evading police, among others. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital and was in stable condition.
