"Movies on the Lawn" enthusiasts are in for a treat this week with two different movies scheduled to be shown on two different nights.

Oz the Great and Powerful has been rescheduled for 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13 at Glory Field. The Game Plan will be shown as scheduled at 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 14 at University Field.
The kickoff to the summer tradition at The University of Texas at El Paso was canceled last week due to inclement weather.

Last year more than 5,000 attended the film series. This year event coordinators anticipate about 8,000 to enjoy the free, public films.

Please note the new day and locations for this season's "Movies on the Lawn." Movies will be shown Fridays instead of Thursdays. Due to construction of the new Centennial Plaza in the heart of campus, the lawn in front of the Geological Sciences Building will not be used this summer. The new locations will be Glory Field and University Field.

Glory Field, also known as the practice football field, is located across the street from the Larry K. Durham Sports Center on Glory Road. University Field, also known as the soccer field, is located south of the Student Recreation Center off of Sun Bowl Drive. Free parking and portable restrooms will be provided near both locations.

Families are encouraged to bring their blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the movies that will play on an inflatable 16-foot by 9-foot screen. No alcohol or glass containers will be allowed. A movie combo will include a hot dog, small soda and popcorn for $5.

The eight-week movie series will include Despicable Me (June 21/Glory Field), National Treasure (July 5/Glory Field), Wreck-It Ralph (July 12/University Field), Harry and the Hendersons (July 19/Glory Field), Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (July 26/University Field) and Brave (Aug. 2/Glory Field).
All movies are subject to change without prior notice. For more information, visit utep.edu/union
