Santa Fe, NM (KDBC) — The dry weather is taking a toll on summer recreation. Visits to New Mexico state parks were down nearly 41 percent this Memorial Day weekend compared to last year. That also translated into a 41 percent dip in revenue. Parks officials blame the drought. Sater levels in Elephant Butte Reservoir have dipped to their lowest levels in eight years, and four state lakes are actually closed to motorized boating because of the drought.
