A new poll suggests many Americans have a grim outlook on the economy, despite a recent string of positive economic news. 71-percent of those surveyed in the NBC/Wall Street Journal poll say the U.S. is on the wrong track and 60-percent believe the nation is in a state of decline.
That's despite a recent increase in hiring and more job openings. So what's to blame for the economic pessimism? According to the Wall Street Journal, most of those surveyed point the finger at the partisan gridlock in Washington more so than deeper economic trends.
