Joseph O’Hara, 65, of Albany, New York was sentenced to three years in federal prison for scheming to secure and maintain a lucrative El Paso Independent School District special education services contract. O'Hara was also ordered to pay back nearly $3 million in restitution to the school district.

O'Hara admitted that from 2003 to 2007 he conspired with EPISD Trustee Sal Mena, among others, to fraudulently secure a contract to provide software to the department and to provide services to obtain federal and state reimbursement funds for special education programs.

O'Hara will report to jail no later than December 3.
