CNN — New Zealand has become one of the largest nations to legalize same-sex marriage. The New Zealand Parliament voted 77 to 44 to amend the marriage act of 19-55, allowing same-sex couples to wed.
The law is expected to take effect in August. New Zealand is the 13th country to legalize same-sex marriage and the very first in the Asia-Pacific region.
