NMSU announces their new executive vice president and provost

New Mexico State University has a new executive vice president and provost.

According to the university, Dan Howard, is the school's new executive vice president and provost.

Howard is a former professor at NMSU and is the current dean of College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Denver.

Howard took the position in Colorado in 2008.

Prior to leaving to Colorado, Howard worked at NMSU for 20 years.

According to NMSU, Howard started as an assistant professor of biology and eventually became the regents professor of biology, head of the Department of Biology and interim associate dean for research in NMSU's College of Arts and Sciences.

His first day on the job is August 1, 2013.
