OJ Simpson takes the stand asking for new trial

OJ Simpson took the witness stand Wednesday in a Las Vegas, Nevada courtroom.

Simpson, who is serving a 9 to 33-year prison sentence for robbery, assault and kidnapping, is appealing the 2007 convictions claiming he got bad legal advise.

The 65-year-old was convicted of leading a group of armed associates into a Vegas hotel room where they forced two memorabilia dealers to turn over items once belonging to Simpson.

Simpson claims his former lawyer yale galanter counseled him it would be ok to take back the items which he believed were stolen from him and he says Galanter prevented him from testifying in his original trial.

"the overall advise he gave me is, you have a right to get your stuff. He gave me an example, if you were walking down the street and you saw your laptop with your name on it in a car, you can use force to break the window of the car to get the lap top." said Simpson.

Simpson has already served close to five years of his nine to thirty-three year sentence.

The man he accuses of incompetence, his former trial attorney Yale Galanter is scheduled to testify Friday.
