Oktoberfest returns to Fort Bliss, tickets on sale in August

Oktoberfest will continue at Fort Bliss this year, despite the exit of the German Air Force, which used to host the event.

The Fort Bliss Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation is hosting the event this year. It is scheduled to be held September 19-21 at a new location, Biggs Park.

Tickets will go on sale August 1. Prices will be $30 for the 19th and 20th, and then the final day of the festival, Sunday the 21, will be free. There will 2,500 tickets available for each night.

The ticket price will include a traditional German meal and a beer stein, but the beer will be for sale. You must be 18 years old in order to attend Friday and Saturday, and 21 years old to drink.

Sunday is designated as a family day with activities for children. Tickets are not needed on Sunday.

Organizers said they promise to keep it very similar the German Air Force's way of doing things.

Tickets can be purchased at the Ticketing and Registration office at Freedom Crossing, and also inside the Loeza Soldier Activity Center located at 20732 Constitution.
